Afternoon Dee-lite!

Santogold - Creator
This song pretty much just rules. If you don’t like it…there is something wrong with you.

Okkervil River - Plus Ones
This is one of those tracks that the lyrics really just make the whole thing work. “No one wants a tune about the one-hundredth luftballoon…”

Vampire Weekend - Everywhere [Pretty Much Amazing]
These dudes can do no wrong. This is the 3rd or 4th cover I’ve heard from them, and everyone of them is spot on. Covers are tough to genuinely pull off, especially covers from really good bands like Fleetwood Mac. VW has the formula right and I’m enjoying the results.

Afternoon Dee-lite!

Jaguar Love - Highway of Gold
-I hate and love this song all at the same time. I’m complicated.

Pharrell - MyDriveThru
-Everyone has heard this song. There really is nothing not to like about it…it’s fun, upbeat, and catchy. I posted it mearly so I could download it later for my running playlist.

Team Robertson Increases Its Ranks by 1...

I guess we can finally tell everyone now...Linds is pregos.

I know, I know. It's a strang thing. 10 years ago, the idea of "getting a chick pregnant" would've made me throw up. Now it's exciting. Getting old is weird.

Anyways, the 13wk little one growing in Linds belly is doing tremendously well...and Linds is doing kick ass also. This baby already has 1 triathlon under its belt, so he/she is going to in tip top shape when Linds pops him/her out on Feb 21st. Just in time to start training for 2009 Summer Tri's.

Ben Kweller - Ice Ice Baby
Belle & Sebastian - Step into my office, baby

Hello Goodbye - Baby, It's a fact (live)

Why Being An American Rules...

Highlight of Olympic coverage this week has to be the interview with Phelps where they asked him what he's listening to on his iPod that is helping him break world records.

His reply, "Lil Wayne - I'm Me."

Afternoon Dee-lite!

State Bird - I Don't Love You Anymore
-Tremendous song. It reminds me A LOT of The Magnetic Fields - I Don’t Believe You., which I just so happen to love. Rules to be me, I guess!

M.I.A. - $20
-Okay, I can admit when I’m wrong. Last year when I M.I.A.’s disc first came out, I made fun of Rolling Stone for giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars. That would rank it up there with most of the Beatles, Dylan, and Stones discs. I’m not saying they were correct in their slightly over-zealous rating, but hey it’s been a year now and I am still listening to stuff off of Kala. That doesn’t happen a lot these days.
Anyways, this is my latest song that "makes me want to get in a fight." I don’t know why I want to get in a fight. I think I’ve been punched in the face twice in my life, and neither time do I remember thinking "oh, this is great. I should do this again soon." Maybe I’ll just stick to listening to music on my iPod and avoiding eye contact with people on the train. Safety first...

We Are Scientists - No Body Move Nobody Get Hurt
-A blast from the past, from way back in 2006. Times were just so much simpler then…

Electric Six - Gay Bar
-Another oldie, but a goodie. Ya, this track is about meeting dudes at a gay bar. What of it. It still rules. The song, not meeting dudes in gay bars. Okay, maybe they rule if that’s your thing. Not that there is anything wrong with that…

Back to work...

To be honest I haven't been really digging into anything brand new lately. Traveling doesn’t make it easy to stay up on all the new stuff coming out. I need time back in my office to really “work” on finding some new tunes. Anyway, enjoy some of my recent “stuff that I missed the first time around.”

Also be prepared, my travels have allowed me to build a mix that I’m getting ready to post. Dude…this thing is a lifetime in the making…

Brenden Benson - Cold Hands Warm Heart
-There just arent enough songs like this… It’s just tremendously good in every aspect. Music – Spot on. Lyrics – insightful but not pretentious. Vibe – exactly what you’re looking for in any mood. Just good music, bottom line.

Destroyer - Painter in Your Pocket
-Give this track a chance. It’s got a slow build that is going to make you want to skip ahead, but don’t. Let it work its magic. The killer little riffs build to a really cool jazzy number. New wave fans are going to LOVE this track.
