MP3: A.A. Bondy - American Hearts
This is one hell of a folk song. I think that AA Bondy read Writing Folk Songs for Dummies, because American Hearts is almost too perfect. He talks about wolves, America, says “Don’t Tread on Me,” and plays acoustic guitar and a harmonica at the same time. I guess if the formula works, why mess with it. This song is great.
MP3: Adele - Hometown
Think Amy Winehouse but minus the cutting, facial lesions, ratty hair, coked out nose, powdery crack lips, bad tats, and big band. Hometown is probably one of the only tracks I really dig from Adele, and I think it’s because its got a more shoegazer feel to it. Where this track really stands out though is despite the meloncholly arrangement, the lyrics speak of strength, power, and rebellion. The more I listen to this song the more I like it.
MP3: The Tings Tings - Great DJ
I figure since I’ve given you two mellow tracks, I should end the post with a fun, upbeat, and dancy number. There’s really not much more to say about this track…it’s just fun. If you fall in love with this track word to the wise, the band sucks live. Linds and I saw these guys live (via DirecTV 101) at SXSW, and they were terrible.
