Weekend Playlist...

Throw Me The Statue - Lolita
- This is a "roll down the windows and sing and dance" kind of song. The world needs more songs like this...

- Linds and I loooved "It's Never Been Like That," and cant wait for their '08 album. Everything is off their 2004 release, but it still just rules. If you got Rhianna to cover this song, it'd be the #1 song on the charts. It's infectiously poppy...and I love it.

Tuesday Tunes...

Radiohead - Everything In It's Right Place
- I’ve been digging through some older stuff on the iPod lately, and thought I’d share. Like a fine wine, this is one of those tracks that just matures with age. I know most have us haven’t rocked Kid A in a while, so do yourself a favor and break it out…you’ll thank me later.

Bun-B - Swang On 'Em feat Lupe Fiasco
- “Down South we keep it diiirty, G”

Esau Mwamwaya - Kamphopo (Heart It Races)
Esau Mwamwaya - Chalo (Paper Planes)
Esau Mwamwaya - Tengazako
- What can I say? I’m a sucker for London based Malawi singers that samples indie songs. Once again Madonna was way ahead the curve with this one...

Weekend Tunes!

Sorry for the lack of posts this week...work has been crazy busy this week. Have no fear! I could never leave my faithful SL36 reader(s) without their weekend playlist! Enjoy.

The Virgins - Rich Girls
- Love the funky Clash/Blondie vibe. Great track for out by the pool.

Islands - Creeper
- I’ve been rocking this track for the last couple of weeks, and havent gotten close to getting tired of it yet. It’s got a great balance of electro-y bleep bloops and crunchy guitar riffs. Fun track.

My Morning Jacket - Touch Me I’m Going To Scream, Pt.2
- 8min epic… This is one of those track that you don’t get the first time through. It really takes a couple of listens before you realize the greatness of what’s going on…and once you “get it” you cant stop listening to it.

And in honor of the great show from DCFC earlier this week, I leave you with something old and something new…which also just happen to be my 2 favorite tracks from the show…
Photobooth & Cath...

Oh ya…here’s my uber quick review of Tuesday nights show. Great setlist of new tracks and a lot off of Photo …Ben may be a certified rock star now, but he’s still nerdy Ben…crowd was too laid back for my liking….not the best show of theirs we’ve seen, but still tremendous…I’ll continue to see them every chance I get.

Brian and Stewie...life-size!

TV on the Radio - Staring at the Sun

LCD Soundsystem - Time To Get Away
-52” of pure LCD goodness

Estelle - American Boy (feat. Kanye)
-Nothing more American than having an enormous TV

Common - UMC (feat Pherrell)
-“Rock the fly sh*t like everyday”

As always...It's all about Lindsay...

Today’s song posts are inspired by stuff that Lindsay has been listening to lately…and I guess since we’re always together, so have I.

Hot Chip - Ready For The Floor
- Lindsay and I decided that if we were robots, we’d want this to be the song our alarm clock would wake us up to every morning. Ya, we know pretending to be a robot is weird…but we’re okay with that.

The Knife - Heartbeats
- We still havent decided if we like this original version or Jose Gonzales’ cover version better…either way both good tracks.

Modest Mouse - Gravity Rides Everything
- Linds’ favorite new “song we missed the first time around”

5 for Friday...

(did anyone else live off this stuff as a kid...it was like liquid crack)

Blerg! this was a long week, but then again I'm coming off a 3-day work week followed by a 2-day work week. Seriously, working 5-days in a row is lame. Anyhow...toss these 5 tracks into your weekend playlist and enjoy the electo poppy goodness.

Last Days Of April - You Dont Believe Me (Monster & Maskiner Remix)
- Shocker…another killer pop song from a Swedish Band. Well, in all honesty the original track is off the LDOA’s 2007 release - Might As Well Live, but M&M just kicked out a 5 track EP of remixes on iTunes. It’s $3.99…suck it up and just buy it…it’s happy fun-time goodness.

MGMT - Electric Feel (Justice Remix)
- As you already know, Team Robertson is big fan of MGMT’s Electric Feel so it goes without saying that when I heard this crappy version of Justice’s remix I knew it would make up to my little blogosphere. I don’t know how they do it, but Justice’s beats just hit you hard right in the chest.

Jukebox The Ghost - Good Day
- Back in 2006 this DC trio toured with the likes of Regina Spektor, Kanye, and Tokyo Police club…not too bad of company if you ask me. Bottom line they kick out some wonderfully good pop songs, that just about everyone will like.

Micachu - Lone Ranger
- Stole this track from MOKB. Dodge describes her sound as a blend of St.Vincent and Lily Allen…which is pretty spot on. It's one of those tracks that if you're a fan of that grimey gringle sound you'll love...and if you're not, you'll hate.

Holy Fuck - Lovely Allen
- Did you ever think we’d live in a world where you could get away naming your band, (earmuffs) Holy Fuck? I mean, seriously…they put (earmuffs) Fuck in their band name. Fortunately for them, no one can really fault them for a poor band name because this song is (earmuffs) fucking brilliant.

I missed their 9-track LP when it came out at the end of 2007, but it will soon be in my catalog at home.

(I started to write a list of potential obscenity-laden band names that I’d like to see in the future, but opted to delete them because I just felt dirty)

Morning Glory!

Sigur Ros - Gobbledigook
- I really like Sigur Ros [cig-grr rose], and quite often catch myself attempting to sing along to their album Takk. As much as I dig their sound, I think I'm going to have to pass on their new album Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust (no joke) when it comes out on the 23rd.

Here's the deal...It’s tough enough to have one album that is completely in Icelandic, much less two. Like my little German grandmother tells me every time we're at the Irving Mall, "Why can’t everyones just learns English?” [sic]

Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal
- I have a feeling that just about everyone who listens to this song is going to like it. I really dig the harmonious vocal and chill Shins vibe of the music. The self titled released from this Seattle based quintet comes out today, and I definitely think I’m going to buy it.
